In 1594 an Archconfraternity dedicated to the Rosary was historically established, linked to the Basilica of Maria SS. Annunziata.
The erect confraternity was already thinking of a simulacrum of the Virgin for common veneration, which, definitively, will make its triumphal entry between the last years of the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, in a baroque style, restrained - in the exuberance of forms - by a etymology that brings back to the classical strength and dignity. Unfortunately, the name of the author is missing, who must have been a papier-mâché artist with a multiform talent. The mother of Christ is caught in the moment of the apparition to San Domenico di Guzman, to whom she gives the rosary. In the rebuilt basilica of the Annunziata (18th century), the beautiful chapel on the right wing of the transept houses the aforementioned simulacrum in the spacious niche.
